In class, we have been talking about medieval times, and the setting of medieval times. When we talked about it, most people thought of dark, powerful times of extreme architecture and influential ideas. This very much related to the setting of the novel Twilight.
Twilight takes place in Forks, Washington. Forks is a dreary place where it always is raining. Forks is a perfect place for Edward and his family of vampires to reside in the outdoors without getting noticed for their sparkling skin. Forks can be a dark and mysterious place, just like Edward is. The woods also generate that same dark, creepy feeling. It further is shown when in New Moon, Edward warns Bella to stay out of the woods because "he is not the most dangerous thing out there..." Forks and its woods create the feeling of uneasiness and darkness, just like some of the feeling in medieval times.

The Sea Turtles' Significance
In Nicholas Sparks' novel The Last Song, he emphasizes the sea turtles a lot. Ronnie, the protagonist, and her later boyfriend Will watch the endangered sea turtles nest for many nights so raccoons don't eat the eggs. Ronnie and Will have a strong motivation to protect the nest. This relates to Ronnie's relationship with her father. Ronnie's dad has cancer that he will not overcome, and so he wants to spend his last days enjoyably with his children. Ronnie feels that need to protect her dad from the dangers of life, and his cancer.
Towards the end of the summer, the sea turtles hatch and wander off with their instincts to the ocean. Although Ronnie knows some won't make it, she has to let them go and enjoy the beauty of life. This is very similar to her father's situation. He isn't going to make it, but Ronnie cares so much for him that she must let him go to stop fighting the pain and agony. That is why she makes his last days comforting and meaningful. The relationship with Ronnie and the sea turtles is very similar, if not the same relationship that Ronnie has with her warm-hearted father.

Evaluating the Importance of Temerature...
As I was reading Twilight, and later New Moon, I noticed how different and alike Jacob and Edward are. Jacob is friendly and fun to be around yet is later secretive, and Edward is gloomy on the outside but once he opens up to Bella, he has a protective, caring, and a mysterious intrigue. However, I noticed that Jacob as a werewolf is always warm, and yet Edward is always cold. You would think Bella would like the warm comfort of Jacob and his personality, yet she falls for the "cool marble touch of Edward's skin." It is interesting that she views it in that way. Whenever she touches him, I would think she should be startled by the coldness around him, yet Bella finds this comforting and refreshing. I think that is a very important aspect of Edward and Bella's relationship.
